Collinear Points on Twin Conics

Problem

Let A1,A2A_1,A_2 be the left and right vertices of the ellipse C1:x23+y2b2=1C_1:\dfrac{x^2}3+\dfrac{y^2}{b^2}=1 (0<b<30<b<\sqrt 3). Let MM be a point on C1C_1 and NN a point on the hyperbola C2:x23−y2b2=1C_2:\dfrac{x^2}3-\dfrac{y^2}{b^2}=1 (with M,NM,N distinct from A1,A2A_1,A_2). Let k1,k2,k3,k4k_1,k_2,k_3,k_4 be the slopes of A1MA_1M, A2MA_2M, A1NA_1N, A2NA_2N, with k1+k2+k3+k4=0k_1+k_2+k_3+k_4=0.

1. Let OO be the origin. Prove that O,M,NO,M,N are collinear. 2. Let F1F_1, F2F_2 be the right foci of C1C_1, C2C_2 respectively, with MM, NN both in the first quadrant; the lines NF1NF_1 and MF2MF_2 meet at a point PP, and k12+k22+k32+k42=8k_1^2+k_2^2+k_3^2+k_4^2=8. (a) Prove that MF1∥NF2MF_1\parallel NF_2. (b) Prove that ∠A1PF1=∠A2PF2\angle A_1PF_1=\angle A_2PF_2.
