A Slope-Product Fixed Point

Problem

The ellipse E ⁣:x2a2+y2b2=1E \colon \dfrac{x^2}{a^2} + \dfrac{y^2}{b^2} = 1 (with a>b>0a > b > 0) has major axis of length 44, and DD is its right vertex. For any four non-vertex points P,Q,M,NP, Q, M, N on EE: when the line PQPQ passes through the origin OO, the slopes of PDPD and QDQD multiply to −14-\dfrac{1}{4}.

1. Find the equation of the ellipse EE. 2. When the slopes of MDMD and NDND multiply to the constant −2-2, does the line MNMN pass through a fixed point? If so, find it; if not, explain why.
