A Paper Tiger

Problem

Let f(x)=(2−x)ek(x−1)−xf(x) = (2-x)\mathrm{e}^{k(x-1)} - x with kk real.

1. If ff is decreasing on all of R\mathbb{R}, find the maximum value of kk. 2. For x∈(1,2)x \in (1, 2), prove that

ln⁡x(2x−1)2−x>2(x−1x).\ln\frac{x(2x-1)}{2-x} > 2\left(x - \frac1x\right).
