Problem

Let f(x)f(x) be defined on an interval II, and suppose that for all x1,x2∈Ix_1, x_2 \in I and all tt with 0⩽t⩽10 \leqslant t \leqslant 1,

f((1−t)x1+tx2)⩽(1−t)f(x1)+tf(x2).f\big((1-t)x_1 + tx_2\big) \leqslant (1-t)f(x_1) + t f(x_2).

Let n⩾2n \geqslant 2, let xi∈Ix_i \in I for 1⩽i⩽n1 \leqslant i \leqslant n, and let pi⩾0p_i \geqslant 0 with ∑i=1npi=1\displaystyle\sum_{i=1}^{n} p_i = 1. Prove that

f ⁣(∑i=1npixi)⩽∑i=1npif(xi).f\!\left(\sum_{i=1}^{n} p_i x_i\right) \leqslant \sum_{i=1}^{n} p_i f(x_i).
